Plan update:
The trip will consist of:
1. Pre-cruise tour - Vancouver 1 night.
2. Cruise - At sea focusing on glacier seeing for 7 nights.
3. Post-cruise tour - Anchorage 1 night.
4. Post-cruise tour - Glass-domed train to Denali National Park and
tours, for 2 nights.
5. Post-cruise tour - Glass-domed train to Fairbanks for aurora
(northern light) seeing and tours, for 2 nights.
You don't have to take the whole trip, for the pre-/post-cruise tours
are optional. We will have a great opportunity to see northern light
in this trip along the way or in Fairbanks because:

According to WikiTravel, 2013 will be the year having the maximum
solar activity in its 11-year cycle. IMHO, if you miss it, your next
best opportunity will be another 11 years.
