I am writing this to answer Marinek's question in the following link.
In this ski trip, we will ski the following 3 ski resorts: Squaw Valley (2 days), Heavenly (1 day), and Mammoth (2 days).
Squaw Valley has hosted Winter Olympics in the past, and it has very beautiful mountain view.
Heavenly is one of the most beautiful ski resorts in the States, and it has very beautiful lake view.
Mammoth has high elevation (11,053 ft) with very long open days in a season (till July 4th), and it is the location for US Olympic Training Camp.
So, we are going to visit these 3 ski resorts in one trip.
Lift tickets: For Squaw and Mammoth, we use Mountain Collective pass. For the Heavenly, we will get a discount lift ticket.
Transportation: You book your own air, and I will book the rental car (cost to be shared).
- When you book the air, be sure you will arrive at RNO (Reno Airport) on 03/11/2014 at around or *before 5pm*. On 03/17/2014, your flight's departure time from RNO needs to be at around or *after 3pm* local time.
Lodging: 3 nights in Tahoe area, and 3 nights at Mammoth.
- We could stay at Squaw for ski-in-ski-out lodging, but it will cost us $170 per person per night ($510 for 3 nights per person). A better idea is to stay in a South Lake Tahoe's casino hotel ($40 per person per night), but it is 1 hour away from Squaw. We can discuss the lodging location when you join.
On 03/11/2014 (the arrival day), we will pick up the rental car at RNO. If your flight cannot fit into our schedule, you can take airport shuttle (one way) to the hotel. Check in to hotel at around 7:30pm.
On 03/14/2014, we check out from the hotel at 8:30am and start skiing at 9:00am at Heavenly. We finish skiing at 4:30pm, leave from Heavenly at 5:00pm, and arrive Mommoth at 7:30pm.
On 03/17/2014, we depart at 9:00pm and arrive Tahoe around noon. Fly back.
The max number of people in this trip should not exceed 6 (to fit a large size SUV). Four people (to fit into a full size SUV) is perfect too. Now we have 3 are going, so we need either one more or 3 more to join. It's on a first come first serve basis - so I will put the 5th person in a waiting list.
We will book the lodging by the end of next weekend (11/24/2013), so please let me know if you are interested in joining the trip.
