Re: [ChineseSkiClub] WISP has perfect snow till this weekend

And Wisp is closing on Sunday March 31st.... would be nice to catch their last hooray...

But Seven Spring is will be open till at least April 7th, although their lift/rental are more expensive (adult lift = $51, kids $41). There are two specials, however. Sunday kids half off, i.e., $20.5/kid. Thursday half off lift price with donation of 5 pounds dog food (I am not kidding). If you don't have any dog food at home, you can go buy some and still end up saving money with the half off lift ticket. -:)

Seven Springs is only 10 miles further than Wisp.

The snow are wonderful, all natural snow powder. Best condition I have seen in ten years. It snowed everyday this week.

Weekday special is $39 lift+rental. Weekend are slightly higher. No line at the lift.

Welcome! For next snow season, we will definitely visit the following two destinations at least:

1. Jackson Hole (optionally with Alta/Snowbird) - 2014-01

2. Aspen/Snowmass - 2014-02

I would love to take more trips to the following destinations in 2014-03:

3. Whistler Blackcomb

4. Mammoth (optionally with Squaw)

We can talk about this in the summer when there is no snow to ski.

Skied Breckenridge today. The snow from yesterday's dump was still good (but not excellent though).

One *foot* (i.e., 12") of snow is coming tonight ... too bad ... because today is my last ski day of this season. It made the total # of ski days 35.

[ChineseSkiClub] 20130321 - The Best Powder Day Ever in Two Years

Cold temperature and blizzard (almost) started from yesterday in Colorado.

We skied Vail on Monday (very good condition because Sunday and Monday were snow days).

We skied Beaver Creek on Tuesday (OK condition).

We skied Vail again on Wednesday (good condition also because yesterday it started snowing again).

We skied Keystone today (super good condition). According to people there, today was the best powder day ever in two years there!

We will ski Breckenridge tomorrow (and the snow is still coming down at this moment).

那是一個很好的主意! 但是要早點出發 (e.g., 1PM 出發 5:30PM 到達) 因為太晚了連吃東西的地方都沒有! 注意事項:
1. Lodging 應該先訂好
2. 地圖先準備好 (千萬不要跟著GPS走 - 否則會出事! 我們以前就有一次出事)

3. 走大路不要走 any shortcut (山裡面沒有信號)

如果早點到達可以滑 Silver Creek 不錯的夜場! 星期六滑一天 Snowshoe Mountain (白天) 星期天滑一天 Snowshoe Mountain (白天) ... 下午 3:30 PM 左右打烊離開!

Please make sure you fill up the gas tank before going into the mountains. We learned the lesson the hard way, for the gas stations near Snowshoe all close very early in the day.

Directions from the DC Area

Take I-66 to I-81 then take I-81 to Strasburg exit (only 3 miles) to Hwy 55 West

Take Hwy 55 West (through Wardensville) to Morefield left at Hwy 28

Take Hwy 28 all the way down to 1 mile past Greenbank (Local Hwy 66)

Take Local Hwy 66 through Cass and the back way to Snowshoe resort.

i was not sure how far they are apart from each other. now that i have some idea,

i guess if you can make the following 2 trips

Mammoth and Squaw in one trip 4 days

Aspen and Snowbird in another trip 4 days

it would be well worth the money considering their 100+ lift ticket

Good News - Whitetail is still open this weekend (fully open), and the trails are still in white color (no potato color yet).

Bad News - Whitetail is closing Sunday at 5:00 PM.

As you know that I have taken all my stuff from my locker back home, so I won't be there this weekend. However, I encourage you to go skiing (again) because - I've never seen the closing date without potato color (so this is a relatively good condition).
