[ChineseSkiClub] Re: Whitetail 2013-2014 Winter Season

We had cold temperature the past two days, and Whitetail has made tons of snow overnight. We will go to Whitetail tomorrow (New Year Day) for good skiing! Join us if you don't have other plan yet. If you need my help to analyze your skiing to provide you some good feedback to work on, let me know beforehand so that I can find time and come to take a look.

If you are going, remember to get up early and arrive Whitetail before 8:30AM. The snow condition will be great, but the crowd will be huge. Start skiing at 9:00AM for the first track. Go to restaurant for lunch before 11:30AM when the crowd rushes to lfit lines. Go back to ski after lunch when the crowd rushes to the restaurant. Skiing the backside diamond trails before 2:30PM when the visibility is still good. Come back to ski the frondside after that, and call it a day around 3:30PM when the trails all get tampered by the crowd.

BTW, one reminder about Friday's Demo Day. It is $35 lift ticket (see link), and you can try the latest and the best skis for free.

[ChineseSkiClub] seven spring or hidden valley ski package?

想要1/13号去华盛顿办签证，顺便1/11-1/12在seven spring and hidden valley滑雪。但是周六这2个滑雪场都没有免费的雪票（我有snowshoe的season pass),想问问各位有没有知道便宜点的package(ski+hotel)?

[ChineseSkiClub] Whistler Blackcomb Ski Trip (02/21-25/2014)

Our flights have been booked. We got 4 people committed to this trip at this moment. Two others are considering and will book very soon. If anyone is interested in joining, please let me know ASAP because we need to arrange car rental.

Highlight of this trip: Whistler/Blackcomb is one of the best ski desitnations in the world. February guarantees to have the best snow condition in the season. Vancouver has the best Hong Kong chefs in the world. We will be enjoying all these while skiing with two CSIA Level-3 and one PSIA Level-2 instructors.

OK ... We finally got 3 people for this trip!
One of my friends has a business trip to SEA from 02/17 to 02/22. We decide to ski Whistler either before or after his conference days.
We will figure out the actual travel dates very soon.

BTW, we will ski with one PSIA Level-2 and two CSIA Level-3 ski instructors at Whistler. If you want to improve your skill while enjoying one of the best ski resorts in North America, join us!

Also I am recruiting friends to take the Whistler ski trip in February:
Day-1: Fly to Seattle and get a rental car. Drive to Whistler (maybe stop by Vancouver for a good seafood lunch/dinner).
Day-2: Ski Whistler.
Day-3: Ski Blackcomb.
Day-4: Ski Whistler.
Day-5: Ski Blackcomb.
Day-6: Drive back to Seattle (maybe stop by Vancouver for a good seafood lunch/dinner). Fly back.

I am thinking either 02/06-11 (4 ski days) or 02/12-18 (5 ski days). We can discuss the travel dates if anyone is interested in this trip.

We had a great time on Christmas Day today. The snow was great (after non-stop 2 days of snow making). All snow machines have been blowing white stuff even after we left the resort tonight. I'll go there again tomorrow. If anyone is interested in joining, please let me know!

After two days of 70F summer in December with heavy rain, a lot of snow from last few weeks have been washed away. The rain is finally over. The temperature starts dropping sharply tonight. Whitetail's plan is to keep their snow machines busy starting tonight - to make 6" of fresh snow every night! I'll go to Whitetail most days this week. If anyone is interested in going together, please let me know.

The ski rental is expensive, and what you would get from rental shop are ... rental skis.

It sounds like your skis have not been used too much - so I would think that they are still in good shape. Since you haven't used them for 9 years, I would recommend that you bring them to a pro shop for a check up of their bindings for safety.

For your kids, they can sign up for learn-to-ski/snowboard package mostly covering their rentals, lift tickets, and lessons. Or you can ask if Seven Springs has something like Kids Mountain Camp that they can sign up.

[ChineseSkiClub] Worth bringing old skis?

I'm taking my kids to seven springs to try skiing for the first time. I'm doing packages for them so they are covered.

I'm wondering if it's worth hauling my old skis or renting. They are around 10 years old now.

One is a mid grade dynastar I used as my rock skis. The other Solomon equip10 3V with low end race bindings which honestly is probably too much ski for me at this point.

I had them both prepped for the 2005 season and haven't been skiing for 9 years...

If you are thinking about trying the latest skis (for free), here is a good opportunity. Ski Center is hosting a demo day at Whitetail on 01/03/2014 starting at 9:30am to 3:30pm. The lift ticket for that demo day is $35 only. You need to get a ticket coupon from Ski Center anytime before going to Whitetail.

Yes, you are right! The temperature would reach 65F this weekend (unbelievable)!

I've already notified the ski school that I am not going.

However, next week will be great - low temperature and snow!

[ChineseSkiClub] Sugarbush + Mad River Glen Ski Trip (12/24-26)

We are joining Swiss Ski Club (SSC) and SkiChinese.com for a 3-day Vermont ski trip. The total number of skiers/snowboarders in this trip will exceed 30.

Where - Sugarbush (2 Days) + Mad River Glen (1 Day)

When - Depart our area on 12/23, skiing on 24, 25, 26.

How Much - Lodging ~ $100 per person for 3 nights

If anyone is interested in joining, please let me know by COB tomorrow (Thursday).

Kai - Not sure if you have made it to Whitetail yesterday. We had almost 20 friends going yesterday. The snow was awesome, and we had a great time there. After skiing, we went to Rockville dinner together. From our insider news, Whitetail whole mountain will be fully open starting next weekend. I will be there next weekend too. Let's plan the carpool earlier next weekend!
